Our Foundation in Barcelona

Kymos S.L. was founded in Barcelona in 2001 by a team of R&D scientists with decades of experience in pharmaceutical development from early research to final formulation and scale up trials for commercialization. The company was established at the Barcelona Science Park and rapidly expanded despite high competition.

In 2011 Kymos took over Ipsen Pharma’s immunology team to create a pioneering biological division, and in 2015 we moved to a brand-new laboratory at the Vallès Technology Park. In 2018, steady growth called for two successive extensions with a new office building and laboratories, and finally, in 2024 we finished our last expansion for our main laboratory.

Kymos Group is headquartered at the Vallès Technology Park (PTV) in Cerdanyola del Vallès, about 20 minutes’ drive away from Barcelona city center and at walking distance from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Alba Syncrothon and multiple biopharmaceutical companies. Our HQ complex consists of two free-standing buildings measuring a total of 3,000m2: The first one (Building 5) contains our main offices and general services including Finances, Marketing and Sales, Quality Assurance, Archive, IT and Management.
